Add support for PostgreSQL
Reported by explody | May 27th, 2009 @ 12:17 AM | in 1.0
The MySQL requirement is very limiting, especially now considering MySQL's future is somewhat uncertain. In our case, we have an established postgres infrastructure and the MySQL requirement is pretty much a showstopper.
Thanks!

Hi Mike !
I am not very familiar with PostgreSQL, but you are right, it's important to support this database. We have isolated all the database specific code in the MysqlAdapter module, so I hope porting will not be too hard (hopefully).
We just needed someone motivated by this feature to get our hands on it !
We will first finish the transition to rails 2.x with some enhanced features RubyLess and API stabilization and then PostgreSQL and other enhancements. From the projects we have to work on for customers, we need to have zena on rails 2.x this summer so things should be moving quite fast.

Hi, it seems like with the most recent commit, PostgreSQL is supported, no?

Support is not perfect yet: there are some issues with the templating language and the SQL that is generated to build queries.
As soon as I can throw out a beta release of the 1.0 branch, I will work on these issues.
But until PostgreSQL support is as good as MySQL, it will take some time and "real world" experience with a beta.
